Pteranodon Drawing: All Steps

In today’s tutorial, we will discover how to make a pteranodon drawing on paper. The size of each part will be observed in each step of the tutorial. Take notice that the blue outlines have been drawn to show the newest shapes being drawn in each step.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Outline The Head

    Pteranodon Drawing: Step 1

    Draw the oval outline of the pteranodon’s head. Form a V-shape to create the opening of its mouth.

  2. Form The Beak

    Now, add a curved line to form its beak.

  3. Draw The Eye

    Draw the flying dinosaur’s eye by creating a small circle.

  4. Attach The Crest

    Attach the pointed crest on top of the pterosaur’s head.

  5. Outline The Body

    Outline the oval shape of the pteranodon’s body.

  6. Attach The Legs

    Draw the long curving shape of its legs attached to the bottom of its body. Erase the parts of its body that overlap with the legs.

  7. Add The Arms

    Add the thin shape of the flying dinosaur’s arms similar to the illustration.

  8. Draw The Wings

    Form the shape of the wings by drawing curved lines. Make sure to erase parts of the body that overlap with the wings.

  9. Complete The Pteranodon Drawing

    Let’s add some color to our pteranodon drawing! First, color its crest with an orange crayon. Next, shade its beak with a yellow crayon. Now, fill its eye with a black crayon. Then, color its wings with a dark green crayon. Finally, shade the rest of its body with a light green crayon.
