Toad Drawing: All Steps

This lesson will teach you how to draw a toad. We will draw attention to the shapes of each part and types of outlines created so that the artwork looks right.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. First Draw The Top Eyelids

    First, draw two lines curving downwards to form the toad’s top eyelids.

  2. Next Add The Eye

    Next, outline the visible eye by drawing a circle. Now, draw the pupil by adding a small oval inside the circle.

  3. Form The Head

    Then, form the curved shape of the toad’s head. Draw a small dot for its nostril and a wavy line for its mouth.

  4. Outline The Body

    Outline the bumpy oval shape of the amphibian’s body.

  5. Form The Forelegs

    Start forming the shape of the toad’s forelegs as shown in the illustration.

  6. Draw The Hind Leg

    Now, form the visible hind leg by drawing a wavy curved line. Erase parts of the body that overlap with the hind leg.

  7. Attach The Toes

    Draw the toad’s pointy toes attached to the ends of its legs as shown.

  8. Add Its Bumpy Texture

    Add small curved lines on the toad’s body and legs to emphasize the bumpy texture of its skin.

  9. Complete The Toad Drawing

    Let’s complete our drawing of a toad by adding some color! First, fill the pupil with a black crayon. Add some shimmer by making a small white oval on its pupil. Next, use a yellow crayon to color the remainder of the eye. Now, shade its underbelly with a light brown crayon. Then, color the rest of the toad’s body with a darker shade of brown.
