Weather Vane Drawing: All Steps

This post will teach you how to draw a weather vane. We will pay attention to the shapes of each part and variety of lines created making sure that the drawing looks right.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Outline The Rod

    Draw two long vertical lines to outline the weather vane’s rod.

  2. Add The Arrow Ornament

    Now, add two horizontal lines to form the shaft of the arrow ornament. Attach the pointed tip of the arrow. Then, form the bumpy shape of the fletching on the other end of the arrow.

  3. Form The Rooster Ornament

    Form an outline of a rooster on top of the arrow.

  4. Attach The Comb And Wattle

    Draw the shape of the comb on top of the rooster’s head. Next, outline the wattle below the beak.

  5. Add The Tail

    Form the long curving tail attached to its body.

  6. Draw The Globes

    Draw two circles to form the globes of the weather vane. Make sure to erase parts of the rod that overlap with the globes.

  7. Attach The Directional Rods

    Draw four diagonal rods in between the globes as shown.

  8. Outline The Directionals

    Outline the letters “N”, “W”, “E”, and “S” attached to the directional rods.

  9. Complete The Weather Vane Drawing

    Add some color to our drawing of a weather vane! First, fill in the rods with a gray crayon. Next, color the globes, directionals and arrow ornament with an orange crayon. Now, shade the body of the rooster ornament with an orange crayon. Then, color its comb, wattle and tail with a red crayon.
